Hi there,

I wanted to let you know that Marginalia is moving to a new home on Beehiiv, and with that comes a clearer direction.

Until now, Marginalia has mostly been a way for me to distribute the longer pieces I’ve published on my blog. Going forward, it will become something more focused: a weekly newsletter where I expand my best tweets into deeper, more developed writing. Every week, I’ll take one (sometimes two) of the tweets that resonated most and turn it into a longer piece, usually between 500 and 1000 words. These won’t be simple threads copied over, of course: rather, they’ll be proper expansions with more context, nuance, counterpoints, and thinking that doesn’t fit into 280 characters

The goal is simple: to take the thoughts that seemed to matter to people on X and give them the space they deserve.

This shift feels more honest to how I actually think and write. Many of my better ideas start as tweets, but they often need more room to breathe. Marginalia will now be the place where that happens consistently.

A few things to know:

  • You’ll receive one email per week.

  • The newsletter will remain completely free, and it will stay free forever.

  • I won’t flood your inbox. The focus is on quality over quantity.

If you’ve been following the longer pieces I’ve published on my site, some of that writing may still appear here from time to time, but the main rhythm will now be these weekly expansions.

I’m excited about this new format. It feels like a more natural extension of the thinking I do publicly. As always, thank you for being here. I appreciate you giving this newsletter space in your inbox.

Talk soon,
Matteo
